Oakley have just returned from sunny South Africa where we shot England cricketer Kevin Pietersen for an Oakley “Rebels” campaign. The shoot took place in the spectacular surroundings of Cape Towns Bloubergstrand with Table Mountain as our backdrop….. suncream and sandy beaches in November!
Oakley were on hand in a wet and rainy Emerald Isle as official supplier to the 2009 Tour of Ireland bike race, where riders including Lance Armstrong and Mark Cavendish battled it out over the Irish countryside.
The first ever Oakley National Trails tour kicked off August 25th. Taking 15 of the UK’s best BMXers to the best UK trails spots over five days, and ending in a fantastic jam session at the famous Aliano Trails in Worcester, home to Stephen Murray and the Murray Jam.
The tour was covered daily on UK’s biggest BMX website Ride UK, engaging the readers with a best whip contest, which received over 40,000 views. Oakley’s Leo Forte won himself a pair of limited edition C100 Jupiter for his best whip (49% of the vote).
Everyone is totally hooked on surfing so the team went for another 2 hour session in the sunshine…
Meanwhile…Bas made the BMX finals but had to finish his run early after blowing his second tyre of the week.
Last night we went to the harbour for a final team supper with the full Newquay crew. It was a fishy feast! Much fun was had cracking crab claws and trying shark…
Brothers from different mothers….
John found a blow up guitar at the Cypress Hill gig…
Sam gave little Lois a better view of the gig….(maybe taking the sunglasses off would have helped!)
Did someone say dodgems?
Loving that guitar…..
Uh oh…Tim Warwood seeing the world through Jaegermeister-tinted glasses.
Day 2 and everybody got in the water! While Oli Adams was in the hot seat for his armchair session the rest of the team went for a group surf lesson…

And as promised team spaghetti bolognase…
Everyone went out to the music festival last night but after cooking up a feast team HQ opted for Big Brother eviction (Kellie our team manager enforced this on us), glass of wine & bed so no pictoral evidence of the nights activities! Agenda for Saturday is a little more surf, skate & bmx contests, team dinner & music festival!!
We’ve got a good little crew down in Newquay for the Relentless Boardmasters! So much going on - surfing, skateboard & bmx events plus more interviews for the armchair sessions. Kicked off with Sam Beckett who has literally just got back from the X Games in LA!
Thursday night was team BBQ time and we cooked all this food…
And got some interview time with Jack & Lewis Clinton & Ben Grove…
We’ve also been hanging out with Romain Cloitre who is on Oakley’s European Surf team - he’s been doing the rounds with the media. This was his shoot with Men’s Fitness magazine!!
Watch this space for Friday’s update that will feature team surf lesson and team spaghetti bolognase!

Last Friday we spent a day with Victoria in Hyde Park to do some promo stuff for our Lavender Trust sunnies. Couldn’t have picked a wetter day for a bike ride but we’re British so…
After a media cycle ride we cabbed it over to Cycle Surgery in Holborn to meet the lovely staff there, sign some stuff for fans and do an interview for our Armchair Sessions…
We want to say thanks to Griff & Helen at Trek Bikes for hooking us up with two Trek Madone Bikes! Also to the guys at Cycle Surgery in Holborn for selling our stuff!
